English: A cast copper-alloy seal matrix of Medieval date. It is pointed oval shaped in form with an integrally cast suspension loop at the top of the back face. This is triangular in form with curved and stepped outer edge, central circular aperture, and is positioned at the top of a rectangular rib that runs the length of the back face. The front face of the matrix has a die comprising a central motif depicting the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) standing left with head turned right to face a banner flying from a long staff. Above the banner are a star and crescent, all of which is positioned within an inner pointed-oval shaped border. The surrounding legend reads S'EVERARDI DE hALWARD, and is a personal seal for the named individual, Everard de Halward. The entire object has a dark brown patina and measures 28.94mm7 in length, 17.39mm in width, 3.85mm in thickness (9.07mm including suspension loop) and 6.91g in weight.
