William B. Sorsby, former I'nited States minister to Bolivia, who died in a New York hospital last night from a complication of diseases following a stroke of paralysis, was a nutive of Mississippi, and made his home for a number of yeits at Clinton, ten miles west of this city. The dead diplomat was an uncle of William A. Sorsby. a postal clerk at Clinton who assassinated Postoffice Inspector Charles Fitzgerald nearly three years ago after the former had been checked up short In 1iis accounts. Young Sorsby was a fugitive from justice for several months, and state and federal authorities frustrated several plans to smuggle him out of the, state to South America, the presumption being that he Intended to join bin uncle In Bolivia. Mr. Sorsby was born in this county, but was a citizen of Oklahoma at the time of his appointment bv President McKinley as minister to, Bolivia. He was about sixty years of axe a:ul unmarried.
